Salla Hakanpää is an aerialist, freediver and singer. She is a vibrant and sovereign artist who’s actively pushing both her own and the art form’s limits to create breathtaking pieces of art. Without forgetting her background in aerial acrobatics, Salla is actively searching for new and exciting ways of making performing art. Cross-disciplinary art and site-specific work are some of her current professional interests.
Salla had her first encounter with circus training at the age of 10. After practising a couple of years she found her passion in aerial acrobatics, and specialised in vertical rope in her professional studies in Turku Arts Academy (BA 2010). Salla found her passion for freediving in the process of her solo debut Pinta (2013). In addition to making underwater art she is also freediving as an athlete in the Finnish national team. Salla has also graduated as a rhythm music solo singer at Laajasalo adult education college.
